Clay Season is Here! Monte Carlo, Charleston, and Spring Tennis in San Diego Tennis Center

Spring means it’s time for clay court tennis—and the season is off to a great start! The Monte Carlo Masters is the first big tournament in Europe. It’s held by the sea and features the best men’s players in the world. Watching them slide, rally, and battle on the red clay is always a highlight of the year.

The clay court season begins with expectations of slower rallies and extended points, creating a distinctive rhythm in the game.

In the U.S., the Charleston Open just finished. It’s one of the biggest women’s tournaments on green clay. The matches were exciting, with lots of long points and surprise wins.

Clay tennis is fun to watch—and even more fun to play! It’s a little slower, so players need to move well and think ahead. It’s great for learning and improving your game.
